Concert Review/Photo Gallery: Echosmith @ The Great Hall in Toronto, ON 10/24/22

Echosmith’s The Hang Around tour rolled into Toronto, ON, on October 24th, a beautiful and sunny Monday, for their only Canadian date of the tour. As a line formed down Queen St. West outside of The Great Hall, fans excitedly awaited for the doors to open promptly at 6pm. Filing into the building, fans quickly rushed to buy some merch that lead singer Sydney Sierota hand designed herself, before claiming their spots at the front of the stage.

Stepping onto the stage first were the siblings that make up Band of Silver. Much like Echosmith, Band of Silver is a three piece band with a beautifully unique female lead singer. With a vintage rock mixed with a modern indie-pop sound, Band of Silver captivated the crowd quickly. It was hard to tell that it was their first time in Canada with the way the crowd reacted to the band; cheering loudly and singing along when asked. Their unique sound connected with the crowd, earning a plethora of new fans. They kicked off the night perfectly, energizing the audience in the best way.

Up next were indie-rock band LostBoyCrow and they did not disappoint. With their energy level set at 110%, LostBoyCrow had the entire crowd’s attention within seconds. The vibe of the audience echoed the captivating stage presence the band delivered, making it hard to decipher the new and old fans. Heavy basslines, unique guitar licks and captivating vocals filled the stage while members Chris Danks (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Tanner Orange (Lead Guitar) and Raymond Venta (Bass) jumped off guitar amps and energetically danced around, putting on a performance the crowd wouldn’t forget. The setlist mixed in some not-yet-released tracks off of their upcoming album Indie-Pop, giving the audience a taste of what’s to come, as well as fan favorites such as Strawberry Sunscreen and Candy Wine. LostBoyCrow made a small room feel large, while staying connected to everyone in the audience, something that isn’t easily done.

Last but not least were headliners Echosmith. With a dreamy atmosphere set with orb lights and a warm beige tone illuminating the stage, Echosmith broke out with their latest single Gelato, a pop-rock gem with hints of inspiration from Lorde. The Sierota siblings were there to have a good time, the contagious smiles on their faces being hard to wipe off. Their setlist was filled with Echosmith classics such as Tell Her You Love Her, Bright and a heartwarming medley of Let’s Love / Come Together / Get Into My Car/ Favorite Sound / God Only Knows / Surround You, as well as an unreleased track called Hindsight and a beautiful cover of Berlin’s Take My Breath Away; a song S. Sierota stated was a special song to her as she and her husband Cameron Quiseng shared their first kiss while it was playing.

Taking a glass jar of fortune cookies, S. Sierota explains to the crowd that each cookie contains a customized fortune with a song title inside. Asking a fan at the front row, who she introduced as her new friend, to pull out a cookie to determine which song they would perform next. Everyone waited excitedly before the lucky fan yelled out Come With Me , a track that has been a fan favorite since its release in 2013. Closing out their set with their hit Cool Kids, a song many people can relate to, the crowd sang their hearts out with the band, no one wanting the night to end.

Each band sticking around once the show finished to meet fans, they created an environment like no other, everyone in the room donning a smile. These bands have created a spectacular show, giving fans a night they will never forget and memories they’ll cherish forever.
