This week we are featuring an up-and-coming metal band from Connecticut called Magnets For Maniacs. It’s not often we feature local bands on Rockin’ Interviews, but this is a band you’re going to want to watch out for in the metal scene because their music is ready for consumption by the masses.
Rockin’ Interviews: First off, how are you guys doing today?
Magnets For Maniacs: We’re doing great! Thanks for having us.
Rockin’ Interviews: Since you guys are a band local to me and this is an international publication, why don’t you tell the people a little bit about yourselves and how MFM came to be?
Magnets For Maniacs: Magnets For Maniacs is a metal band based out of New Haven, Connecticut. We’re a four piece group with pretty diverse tastes in music which I would say definitely come out in our style. We get some comparisons vocally with Slipknot or Lamb of God. I’d say we’re generally making stuff in the groove/thrash/metalcore realms. We’re definitely all really personable guys and I think that charisma and friendship shows in our music and performances.
Rockin’ Interviews: You are a very driven band, collectively, and I see you guys being very successful. What are the trials and tribulations that have gotten the band to where it is today and how have you gotten through it together?
Magnets For Maniacs: Thanks! I think the drive comes from sharing a passion for something and believing in ourselves. Music is a bit different in the sense that there’s not really a ‘roadmap’ to success. I think one of the biggest things that’s helped us to progress is learning from our mistakes and to communicate with each other. Being in a band is like a relationship, and everyone needs to be on the same page and willing to work things out in order to get past problems.
Rockin’ Interviews: You’ve got a new single coming out this week titled ‘872’. Tell me a bit about how that song came to be?
Magnets For Maniacs: We always joke around about how long 872 took to write. That song caused a lot of friction between us and definitely forced us to grow as a band and work out our differences. The name of the song actually has nothing to do with anything. It was an inside joke that wound up being the working title and it just stuck.

Rockin’ Interviews: What made you decide to put out that song as your next single?
Magnets For Maniacs: 872 is definitely a high energy song and fits with the ‘live’ music video concept we wanted to bring to life. It’s a dynamic track and showcases our style and high energy performances pretty well.
Rockin’ Interviews: Do you foresee a full-length album for the band in the near future? If not, why?
Magnets For Maniacs: We’ve got an album coming out in the next month or so after the single release on 4.11.23. Keep an eye out for Snakes & Cynics which will be releasing in May.
Rockin’ Interviews: Where do you see Magnets For Maniacs 5 years from now?
Magnets For Maniacs: I think we’re looking back on the year we had this year and are extremely optimistic about the future. I think we’re just living in the moment right now but we’re really excited to see what’s next for us.
Rockin’ Interviews: As an up-and-coming band I want to know what is the worst or most ridiculous thing that has happened during one of your shows?
Magnets For Maniacs: We had a show a few years back where a ton of drunk people decided to open up a pit during one of the songs. There was some lady who ran face first into another guy and just got absolutely layed out. She got back up and she got hit so hard her tits came completely out of her shirt. She’s so hammered she has absolutely no idea so she just keeps moshing before someone pulled her aside and helped her get situated.
Rockin’ Interviews: Is there anything else you’d like to include?
Magnets For Maniacs: I think we’re all beyond excited to show the world this project we’ve been working on. We’ve put tons of effort and creativity to this and we can’t wait to hear the feedback from everyone. The single “872” is releasing on 4.11.23 with a music video through SpaceUntravel on Youtube. Snakes & Cynics is coming out in May. You can find us on social media to keep up with everything we’re doing. Thanks Shannon!
