Concert Review/Photo Gallery: Live United Live Music Festival Day 1 @ Spyglass Ridge Winery in Sunbury, PA 6/5/21

Day 1 – This past weekend, a slew of iconic ‘80s hard rock bands took a trip down to Spyglass Ridge Winery in Sunbury, PA for the Live United Live Music Festival benefiting youth mental health through the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way. Thousands of people packed into the field for two blisteringly hot days filled with rock n’ roll, friends, and fun.

On Saturday morning, the lines were long and the energy was tangible. The day kicked off with New Jersey based metal band Without Reason, who played a well-balanced combination of classic metal covers and original songs.

Without Reason:

The second set of the day was the debut of George Lynch’s band as a trio – Michael Devin on bass and vocals, Jimmy D’Anda on drums, and of course, George Lynch on guitar. They performed an off-the-cuff, jam-band type set which effortlessly captivated the audience.

George Lynch:

Next up was the highly anticipated Jack Russell’s Great White. Despite Jack Russell’s bout with strep throat, he and his band put on a downright fantastic performance.

Jack Russell’s Great White:

Around mid-afternoon is when the inimitable Lita Ford took the stage and rocked the faces off of every single person in that crowd.

Setlist:

Gotta Let Go
Larger Than Life
The Bitch Is Back
Hungry
Playin’ With Fire
Can’t Catch Me
Drum Solo
Cherry Bomb
Black Leather
Only Women Bleed
Close My Eyes Forever
Kiss Me Deadly

Lita Ford:

The ‘Down Boys’ of Warrant absolutely tore the house down with the lively energy of their set. It was almost as if it were a show from 1990 just after the release of Cherry Pie.

Setlist:

Sure Feels Good to Me
Love in Stereo
Bed of Roses
You’re the Only Hell Your Mama Ever Raised
I Saw Red
Song and Dance Man
Mr. Rainmaker
Blind Faith
Down Boys
D.R.F.S.R.
Heaven
Uncle Tom’s Cabin
Cherry Pie (with Jack Russell)

Warrant:

Closing out the night was hard rock legends Dokken. I’d call this latest incarnation of Dokken an all-star lineup in terms of technical skills, but I found myself more entertained by how excited all the guys appeared to be back onstage. Even original Dokken guitarist George Lynch joined his former bandmates onstage for a few songs which lit up the crowd. Rock N’ Roll is back!
